HOW DID THIS COME ABOUT?
Working with Art x Love on the @PLAY Project, we learned that Cascade Valley (the neighborhood where Cascade Village is) had a negative perception by others outside of the neighborhood. Our experience was that of a welcoming, talented population of residents. We applied for funding through 8 80s cities to teach a playwriting course in Cascade Village to give residents the opportunity to reimagine their neighborhood and reshape its narrative. The original plays were written by Morgan Brady (“Clocks of Cascade) and Barbara Mitchell-King (“These Steps”).
