The Chameleon Village’s founder has relocated to Akron, OH and has teamed up with Art x Love and Gum-Dip Theatre through the @PLAY project to create an original play about Akron called Rebranding the City. Snippets of the piece were staged for Akron’s StageFest on June 2nd. More to come throughout the year!
Rebranding the City: A Humanizing Tour of Akron
Rebranding the City is a series of theatrical vignettes shaped as a tour trying to convince people to come to (and stay) in Akron. The play is 75% based off of interviews with people from Akron’s 24 neighborhoods and serves as a humorous (and sometimes serious), self-reflective look at where Akron came from, where it is now and where it plans to go all while giving a platform for the voices of its residents. Welcome to Akron, a place that many call home.
As we’ve stated, all of our plays are originals! They are new plays that are being worked continuously throughout the rehearsal process. We discovered during the process that the old title, So the Shrink Says, no longer fits the show; therefore, we renamed it and are excited to present, Talk to Me.
This site-specific show takes place in a tattoo parlor! That’s right! You will be watching live theatre written for and performed in a real tattoo parlor!
Thank you to the cast of Cupid #5 Rickie Baldwin as THE NARRATOR and Jordan Ealey as INDIGO and all who attended! We would also like to thankthe Lost Keys Literary Festival for allowing us to write the original play to premiere at their event.
The Chameleon Village can write an original piece for your event or business too!
Cupid #5 – Play Synopsis: Year after year Indigo has been waiting to find a special someone and this V-Day she decides to take it into her own hands. She sets up a blind date and everything goes downhill. Luckily, we have the fun and charismatic Narrator to walk us through her dismay.
